Dolphin Ocean Porcelain Limoges Box

Two dolphins arc together through shimmering waves on this hand-painted porcelain Limoges box. It was made in Limoges, France, and it brings the motion of open water to a small, polished shape.

Riding the Bow Wave

Anyone who has watched dolphins race beside a boat knows how quickly they lift the mood on deck. Here the pair glide side by side over painted swells. Since each box is finished by hand, the curl of the water and the shading of the dolphins change slightly from one to the next.

Ocean Pairings

• Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France
• A centerpiece for a sea life, beach or nautical collection
• Works well with whale, sea turtle, shell and sailboat boxes

Where the Tide Takes It

It feels at home in a beach cottage, on a bathroom shelf decorated in blues, or on a desk that needs a reminder of vacation. Because the two dolphins swim as a pair, it is a meaningful anniversary choice for a couple who honeymooned by the sea. Marine biologists, sailors and aquarium volunteers will also see something familiar in it.

Wherever it lands, it brings a little salt air and sunshine with it.
