Pancakes and Coffee Breakfast Tray Limoges Box

A short stack of pancakes and a cup of hot coffee share a breakfast tray on this cheerful porcelain Limoges box. It was painted by hand in Limoges, France, and it captures the most leisurely meal of the weekend.

Flapjacks at Dawn

Pancakes have a way of turning an ordinary Saturday into an occasion, especially when someone else does the cooking. The stack, the cup and the tray are each painted by hand, so the golden tones and small details differ from one box to the next.

Weekend Brunch Company

Display it on a kitchen hutch, beside the coffee station or on a breakfast nook windowsill. It is a fun thank-you for the dad who makes pancakes every Sunday, a short order cook moving on, or the bed and breakfast host who sends guests off well fed. Fans of maple syrup season in Vermont or Quebec will also enjoy it.

Born in the Kiln

Limoges porcelain is hard-paste porcelain fired at very high heat, then painted by hand after that firing, which is why the colors on a piece like this sit so crisply on the white.
