Round Camembert Cheese Porcelain Limoges Box

A whole wheel of Camembert, round and untouched, makes up this simple and satisfying porcelain Limoges box. It is painted by hand in Limoges, France, as a tribute to the soft cheese that defines a French picnic.

The Whole Wheel

Before the knife comes out, a fresh Camembert sits in its round wooden box looking almost too pretty to open. This piece keeps it that way forever. The rind is painted by hand, so the tones and markings vary slightly on every example.

Picnic Basket Partners

• Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France
• A classic subject for a cheese or French food collection
• Sits well beside wine bottle, baguette and grape cluster boxes

For the Cheese Course Crowd

It is a lighthearted thank-you for the guest who always brings the cheese, a souvenir of a trip through Normandy, or a nod to a chef who trained in France. Members of a cheese of the month club, dairy farmers and fromagers will smile at it. Put it on a kitchen hutch, in a dining room cabinet with serving pieces, or next to the wine rack.

Pair it with the Camembert box that has a slice cut away, and the two make a fine before and after on a gourmet shelf.
